On 12 of September the Warsaw-based Impression Polska company celebrated official starting of the Poland’s first KBA Rapida 205-4 CX superlarge-format offset printing press. More than 200 invited guests, including numerous customers from Poland and other countries (representing outdoor companies, media houses, advertising agencies and FCMG), representatives of equipment vendors, employees of Impression Polska and foreign companies belonging to Impression-Eclipse as well as trade media representatives, participated in the event.

A four-colour KBA Rapida 205-4 CX was delivered to Impression Polska at the beginning of August and had printed many current jobs, including stands and billboards, before the official starting. It is the first superlarge-format sheet-fed offset press installed in Poland. As announced during grand opening, KBA has already sold 40 presses of this model worldwide. Moreover, KBA is the only producer of “jumbo” sheet-fed offset presses, offering a maximum sheet size of 1510 x 2050 mm (printing area is 1490 x 2050 mm).
A big attendance among Impression Polska’s customers during grand opening confirms a huge interest in this installation among many companies, either from Poland or from abroad. Besides companies from Poland, the meeting gathered customers from Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic States. What’s interesting, the first jobs printed by the new KBA Rapida 205 press were ordered by the Russian and Lithuanian companies.

The guests who gathered in the production hall were warmly welcomed by Tomasz Skrzypkowski, Sales Director at Impression Polska. He shortly described the most important characteristics of the press. Besides its unique printing size, Tomasz Skrzypkowski underlined opportunity of printing on substrates with a maximum thickness of 1,2 mm with a speed of 9,000 sheets per hour as well as many advanced functions, e.g. Densitronic Professional colour measurement and matching system and Windows-based ErgoTronic console, including ColorTronic ink feeding system.
His presentation was followed by a “live” demonstration of the press. The first “official” sheet printed by the new KBA Rapida 205 was solemnly signed by: Andrzej Grudzinski, General Director of Impression Polska; Sven Strzelczyk, Sales Director at KBA, responsible for the Central-Eastern European and the former Soviet Union countries; Miroslawa Becker, Regional Sales Manager at KBA-Polska; Swapan Chaudhuri, Country Manager at Kodak Polska (the company delivered a large-format CtP system to Impression Polska); Agnieszka Poczekaj, Territory Sales Manager at Kodak Polska; and Wojciech Kaczorowski, Leasing Advisor at Deutsche Leasing Polska (the company supported Impression Polska in the area of financing the whole investment).

After the official part, the guests moved to the well-known Warsaw club “Fabryka Trzciny”, where celebrations were continued. Before the party started, representatives of KBA company, Sven Strzelczyk and Miroslawa Becker, handed Andrzej Grudzinski, General Director of Impression Polska, a miniature of KBA Rapida 205. Mr Strzelczyk congratulated on investment in Poland’s first “jumbo”-type printing press and wished Impression Polska further successes in a dynamically growing Polish large format printing market.
The artistic part of the evening, styled on Al Capone’s times, was supported by Five o’clock band. An interesting detail was an appearance of Des Singers vocal band, including Daniel Koper who co-operates with Impression Polska in the area of investment advisory and new projects.
